3D printing in the dental laboratory: more than just a technical trend

3D printer producing dental models

What seemed futuristic only a few years ago is now part of everyday life in modern dental laboratories: 3D printing.

From digital data sets, three-dimensional objects can be created layer by layer. In dental technology, the process is suitable for models, splints and certain auxiliary parts, among other things.

Straight from the digital workflow

The particular advantage lies in the direct connection to the digital workflow.

An intraoral scan can be processed digitally. This produces design data and – if a physical model is required – a precisely manufactured 3D model.

This does not just save time. It changes entire process chains.

A printer does not make a digital laboratory

At the same time, the following also applies to 3D printing: a printer does not make a digital dental laboratory. Material knowledge, correct data preparation, post-processing and quality control remain decisive.

At BLANC ET NOBLE, we therefore use 3D printing where it offers a genuine technological advantage.

For us, innovation does not mean following every trend. Innovation means using new possibilities in such a way that, in the end, a better process and a high-quality restoration result.
